My House Isnā€™t Picture-Perfect

marketing Nov 01, 2024

“My house is a mess.” Oh, really? Well, join the club! Let me let you in on a little secret: you don’t need a picture-perfect house—you need a real one. Sure, we’ve all seen those gorgeous shoots in rented kitchens where it looks like no one’s ever cooked a meal. They’re great… for the photographer’s portfolio. But for you as an entrepreneur? What exactly are you telling your audience with those Martha Stewart vibes? Is there anything in those pictures for them?

Here’s the truth: when people look at overly staged spaces, all they see is you, posing alone in a perfect bubble. While that might look cool at first, it gets old fast because there’s nothing about them in such pictures.

Let’s be real—does a rented space show who you really are? Does it scream, “I’m a dog lover, a mom, a coffee addict, a healthy food enthusiast?” Not at all. It’s empty. There’s nothing in it about your identity or values, and if your audience can’t see who you are, how can they relate to you or trust you?

Your real home—with real life happening in the background—is where the magic happens. That’s where your audience can look at your pictures and think, “She’s like me! I like her!” That’s what builds a connection and trust.
